Some Shipwreck Items from Texas
http://www.archaeologicalartist.com My other biz includes scientific research and art. This is some recent work to document all the artifacts recovered from French explorer LaSalle’s 1687 shipwreck, the “Belle”. These were done for the THC under the employ of Hicks & Co here in Austin, Tx. These scale drawings require measuring individual motif landmarks, creating a rough pencil drawing and then using a micron pen placing thousands of little stippled dots in greater or lesser density to create an antique looking, detailed, illustrative scientific rendering. I really love the various and beautiful styled religious iconography of these mass-produced trade rings. The rings were basically given to Native Americans back in the mission days, and the weight aided in depth measurements. Currently, on a batch of other artifacts from the ship.
