FOR GIVING CITY MAGAZINE
http://www.greggcestaro.net/ Although four lights can definately light a scene, sometimes one light is all you need to get a shot, especially if you want to travel light to a location. I built a homemade beauty dish for my portable studio flash, which acts like a softbox and tested it on these two shoots for Giving City Magazine. PBS television’s Biscuit Brothers Kids show was created and produced here in Austin Texas, and I visited with them at their planning meeting held at a local Mexi
can restaurant. The second shoot was a charity battle of the bands and I met them at their corporate green room lounge. Unlike the Biscuit shoot which was place directly overhead the table, I treated the light as a ring light by having the light directly above the edge of the camera. Post production bumps, aging and grain give the band photo a retro album cover look. I really like the overall lighting of the dish.
