HOW THINGS CAN CHANGE WITH THE WIND
greggcestaro.com This long awaited shoot to do some bright warm fall fashion and colors fell on a cold windy cloudy day which changed the whole mood 180 degrees. ModelMayhem models Belle Celleste Chesser and Natalie Solis brought their vintage clothes and make-up and we all set out. We changed some locations and shot at an old abandoned house that was originally shown to me by April Skinner. The dilapidated house pretty much created a dark mood and yet the fashion fit into a more B movie scene shot. The girls did the scene from The Shining with the sisters holding hands and some other shots and I used my new cool top secret light that made shooting more fluid. We did some head shots with soft available light and the new light which gave a hard edge. Then it was off to the hayfields in Leander. The overall color scheme was the dry grass tans, but the ominous front blowing in on the late afternoon muted sun painted a different picture. The muddy available light was knocked up with my portable studio light with umbrella blowing in the wind. Balancing the two, the overcast and studio light, yielded a good base picture that post production enhanced. Post included the usual cosmetic enhancements, some burn and dodge, some channel mixing, and filters. I like the different feel the black and white and color and how it changes the the overall feel of the same image. Overall, the weather, the fashion, and the models combined to produce a cinemagraphic and weird, dream-like vision. Hopefully, next weekend will see calm sunny afternoons with firey leaves still on the trees.
